WATERSHED & LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We recognize that we gather on the traditional Lands of the Chononton, Anishinaabe, and Haudenosaunee peoples, today the Six Nations and Mississauga of the Credit. This Land is part of the Dish with One Spoon Wampum and Crown Grant to the Six Nations, known as the Haldimand Tract.
We recognize that many treaties have not been honoured to their original intent, and we acknowledge the impact of colonialism on the Land, languages, culture and knowledge of all Indigenous Peoples. We are grateful for the historic and ongoing contributions of Indigenous peoples in our community and for their care for the Land, plants, animals, water, and air. We are mindful of the need to redress wrongs with First Peoples as we live, work, and worship on this traditional territory.
We see the Earth as holy ground, and are learning to walk humbly on it and to do justice and love kindness. We practice our discipleship in our watershed, and are becoming disciples of our watershed - listening to how the community of creation can show us how to be better followers of Christ, the firstborn of all creation.
