Important info about our gatherings & events
Important info about our gatherings & events
- Monthly worship happens on the third Sunday of each month, and lasts about 60-75 minutes. We also host an additional event most months that provides opportunity for community building, learning, action, or service.
- To find us in Bechtel park, take the park road past the outdoor soccer fields and tennis courts to the far end of the parking lot by the playground and forest trails. Look for our sign. We meet there.
- From there we walk together (450 m along a slight declining trail) to our worship spot down by Laurel Creek. Plan to arrive a few minutes early so you don't miss us! (In case you do arrive late take the grassy trail beside the playground (not heading directly into the forest there) until you come to a T. There you turn right and follow the path down to the creek.
- We gather rain or shine: please dress for the weather (including footwear)! In case of extreme weather (like lightning or ice storms) we will notify of cancellations here on the website, via email, and on our social media.
- Note that there are risks involved in worshiping outdoors, such as insect bites, tripping hazards, noxious weeds, falling tree branches, etc. We expect that participants assess their own comfort level with the risks of being outdoors and weigh them against the benefits. You are responsible for your own safety.
- If you are planning to bring a group it would be helpful to know ahead of time. Please email us so we can be prepared and so we can ensure your group has all the info you need for a good experience.
What to expectWe draw a variety of people: some who attend other churches, some who've left church, some with no church background. We meet in a forested area of Bechtel Park, and our worship gatherings include four main blocks:
Gathering & Grounding Readings & Reflections Wandering & Wondering Sharing & Sending On occasion we also celebrate communion together or include other rituals, spiritual practices, or responses. All ages are welcome, and children are invited to participate and explore nature at their own level as a valued way of connecting with our Creator and our community of creation. |
Looking for other wild church groups
that meet in Ontario? There are several groups spread across Ontario, including the Guelph, Floradale, Kincardine, Barrie, Maynooth, Ottawa, Sarnia, Whitby, Toronto, Hamilton, St Catharines, and Leamington areas. Check out this map from the Wild Church Network website to find links to individual groups, or ask Wendy to find out about others she may be aware of that are not on the map. |
