Divine Light,
Lover of the universe Love incarnate Love that is alive all over our world today: Warm our hearts and melt our indifference. Ignite love within us that is big enough to overcome our smallness, and big enough to extend to all the earth and all our more-than-human neighbours. Luminous Love, shine deep within, with a light that shares the darkness with a graciousness that does not overpower. May we, too, be bearers of the Light. Amen.

Divine Light,
In these darkening days, We pray that you would ignite joy In our hearts and world. We know that this season Isn’t always joyful, But we pray that we might find joy in simple ways - Joy in a glimpse of a red cardinal, Joy in fresh air in our lungs, Joy in the sweet taste of chocolate, Joy in a candle’s light in the window, Joy in reading a book with a child, Joy in the sun breaking through the clouds, Joy in the warmth of a cat on your lap, Joy in steam swirling from a cup of tea, Joy in snowflakes falling from the sky, Joy in time with friends, Joy in finding tiny tracks in the snow, Joy in the scent of cinnamon, Joy in a silent night sky, Joy in awakening to greet a new day. May each moment of joy be a reminder of your presence and of the sacred beauty of your incarnation in our world. Amen. - Wendy Janzen Divine Light,

This Advent season ignite hope in our lives and in our world: in all the places where we are broken, hurting, and overwhelmed. Things are a mess, God, and it is tempting to turn away, avert our eyes, avoid the truth. It is in the midst of messiness that we light a candle, acknowledging our grief and longing for hope in the same breath. We hold out for hope that will outshine despair and desecration. May our hope in your presence carry us through these days, lighting our way. Amen. - Wendy Janzen
Prayer for the fourth Sunday of Advent ~ Lover of the Universe, Your love is beyond measure. It connects souls mends breaches warms hearts. As we receive and share love this season, may we extend love to those who seem unlovable. May we extend love to the land we walk on and live on. May we extend our love to endangered species, trees, rivers, and all our neighbours. May we remember we are all deeply beloved creatures in the community of creation. Our hearts continue to wait with expectation... Amen - Wendy Janzen 2018 Prayer for the third Sunday of Advent ~
O Joy! On this wintry day, O God, may we find joy: joy in the sun's warming rays, joy in sweet birdsong, joy in a candle's soft glow, joy in friends and neighbours, joy in silence and stillness, joy in music and movement. May we experience joy in this season that moves us deeper into darkness, darkness that welcomes and dances with light. Amen. Wendy Janzen 2018 A prayer for the second Sunday of Advent ~
Great Mystery, We seek your presence this new day, praying that your dawn from on high will break forth into our dreary world, shining rays of peace where it is needed so desperately. We long for you, for a new day, a new way where love overflows in the mountains and valleys, cities and villages, and when all flesh will be alive and awake to your beauty. Amen. Wendy Janzen 2018 A Prayer for the first Sunday of Advent ~
God of wonders, We arrive at this first Sunday of Advent already bombarded with glitter and lights, festive specials, seasonal music, and sales, sales, sales! Help us to slow down And wait on you. Help us prepare a way for you in the wilderness in the out-of-the-way places in the forgotten places in the quiet places. Away from the commercialism materialism, & consumerism of our fuel-driven empire. May we see your radiant glory, and may all flesh, all creatures, all of creation take it in. Amen.
